Phillip Schofield keen to get back to ITV This Morning as he shares half-term activities and confirms return date

Phillip Schofield has expressed his keenness to get back on screen and to This Morning as he gave a glimpse into his half-term break. Earlier this week viewers of the ITV daytime show were soon commenting on social media when they were welcomed by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

The hosting duo were back fronting This Morning on Monday (October 17), days after they helped the show celebrate its latest award win. And fans of the popular show were quick to realise that Alison and Dermot don't usually host the show, being This Morning Friday's presenters and the Monday to Thursday episodes are usually presented by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Phillip and co-host Holly are curring taking their usual half-term break this week and Dermot and Alison will be sitting for them. But it appears Phillip would rather be back at the helm of the popular programme.

Taking to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (October 19), the 60-year-old presenter shared a look at what he has been up to during his time off so far, and he showed it's not all glamourous for TV's biggest stars. Alongside a photograph of bulb packets, he told his Instagram followers: "What did I do in my half term break? .... bulb planting!"

Phillip then posted a snap of his empty cupboards, adding: "And cleaning out the cupboards!!" He then remarked: "Definitely ready to get back on @ThisMorning on Monday!"

Holly and Phillip's absence from the show came just after the pair led This Morning onto the stage to collect their latest National Television Award. The programme saw off competition from Loose Women, The Chase and The Repair Shop to scoop the gong in the Daytime category at the NTAs for a fifth year in a row.

A stunned Phillip put his head in his hands and appeared to hold back tears after This Morning was called as the winner by Strictly Come Dancing stars Ellie Simmond and Nikita Kumzin, while Holly looked equally as surprised and pleased as she immediately hugged her co-star and off-screen 'bestie'. When up on stage, an emotional Phil, 60, told the crowd and ITV viewers: "Don’t think we ever get complacent...

"And please don’t think we ever take this for granted. This means so much to us every year, especially this year. We have the most amazing team. I have the best friend, we have the best boss."

After reports of boos, the This Morning team headed backstage to chat to press and get their photos taken with their new shiny award, Phillip was awkwardly questioned about the queue scandal, which began on September 17 when he and Holly were spotted in Westminster Hall. He was asked by a member of the press: "Phil do you think this vindicates you for queue-gate?

"Do you think now that you've won this the public have said 'actually we don't care that much' about queue gate?" But Phillip replied: "We are so grateful to our amazing viewers. We love them" before rushing off in a clip that has now been shared on social media.

But Phillip went on to share his own message with his million of Instagram followers. Sharing a photo of him on stage with the NTA in hand and Holly with her arms wrapped around him in a hug, he wrote: "I love you @hollywilloughby and our entire @thismorning family. Thank YOU for every single vote 'cos we love you most x."
