Phillip Schofield is 'not the only guilty party' in affair, says Eamonn Holmes

Eamonn Holmes has reacted to Phillip Schofield's admission he had an affair with a younger male ITV employee, saying his former colleague has "finally been caught out".

The 63-year-old TV star shared a tweet after Phillip, 61, admitted the affair and quit ITV for good as it was revealed he had lied about it, too. In a lengthy statement Phillip apologised to everyone, including his family for having the affair, and lying about it when approached by press over the claims.

He said: "I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.

"That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."

He was also dropped by his talent agent YMU, who blasted the star after learning about "important new information about our client Phillip Schofield".

As celebrities and Phillip's former ITV colleagues react to the bombshell news online, Eamonn – who used to host Fridays on This Morning alongside wife Ruth Langsford – shared a tweet.

He wrote: "Schofield has finally been caught out ... But he's not the only guilty party. 4 high members of Itv management knew what sort of man he was ...and NEVER once took action to stop him abusing his position."

This isn't the first time Eamonn has spoken out against Phillip, as the former This Morning presenter was vocal about his criticism towards Phillip when he announced his decision to step down from This Morning last week.

Eamonn discussed the reported "feud" between Phil and Holly Willoughby on his GB News show on Monday.

He told co-host Isabel Webster: "Holly knows the truth, the story is with her."

Isabel confirmed Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary are set to host Monday's This Morning as she added: "All of this comes after the big announcement from Phillip Schofield that he was stepping down..."

Interrupting, Eamonn remarked: "Please, let's stop this, he was sacked."

"All this nonsense about, 'I've decided to step down' I'm sure you did," he sarcastically continued. "Now here's your P45, now step down. Why do we propagate this language? 'I've decided to step down' and [Holly] says the couch won't feel the same without him there. Well she wanted him not there, so why is she moaning about the couch not feeling the same for? They deserve each other."

Eamonn isn't the only celebrity to have reacted to Phillip's affair admission.

Piers Morgan tweeted: "Blimey..." with a shocked emoji as he re-shared a tweet about the news.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Feltz was live on GB News with guest Nigel Pauley when the news broke.

Nigel said the statement meant that there could be more "revelations and some more negativity coming out.

"If an agent drops someone and uses the words honesty and integrity, that's not good," he said.

Vanessa kept composed throughout the chat and nodded her head as her guest discussed the contents of the statement.

While This Morning's former resident doctor Dr Ranj Singh added: "A storm is coming..."
