Phillip Schofield ‘hires lawyer’ over rift with Holly Willoughby but is on air today

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield is said to have hired a lawyer over his row with colleague Holly Willoughby.

The 61-year-old reportedly “felt he needed someone in his corner” following a fall out with his co-presenter, however Schofield is on air today, The Express reported.

He released a lengthy statement labelling Holly as his “rock”, however, she has stayed silent.

The latest update on the potential fall out, as reported by the Sun, says Phillip is looking to take legal advice.

Someone told the publication: “Phil has instructed a lawyer to help keep his reputation intact. They are overseeing stories relating to ITV and his role on This Morning and are ensuring Phil is protected.

“Phil has done absolutely nothing wrong and doesn’t have a PR team guiding him."

They added that legal advice was sought so that nothing would go "any further."

Reports stressed that Phillip was being “blindsided” after his apparent tensions with Holly were aired in the public sphere.

Holly was allegedly "taken aback" by Schofield's statement praising her.

“Although behind the scenes their relationship is nothing like it was, they are both dedicated to This Morning and keeping it together for viewers," a source disclosed.

The source also alleged ITV is “aware of the issues” and doing what it can “to keep things running smoothly”.

The co-stars are scheduled to appear on This Morning together until late July, after which a six week recess will take effect.

Express.co.uk reported that the pair will be returning to host the show later this Monday.

ITV confirmed on Sunday: “Holly and Phillip will be back on the sofa tomorrow."
