Phillip Schofield immediately shared his thoughts on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 's trip to the UK after returning to ITV's This Morning on Monday, September 5. The presenter, 60, appeared alongside co-host Holly Willoughby for the first time in eight weeks following their summer break from the show.
Talking to royal experts Gyles Brandreth and Camilla Tominey about the Duke and Duchess' return to the UK, Phillip described how there was "no dignity" in the Duchess' new podcast, which has boosted media attention before the couple's upcoming events. Conversation then turned to Prince William and Harry's conflict, which is said to be unresolved despite the 25th anniversary of their mother, Princess Diana's death.
Aggravated by the current royal situation, Phillip continued: "I mean the Queen is 96 years old, dignified her entire life, now having to cope with this." Before adding: "By what they are saying and we've been very sympathetic and then sometimes we've been critical but then you look at it and think, oh why don't you both just shut up." "Well that's the impression behind palace gates," Camilla replied before she continued: "You wanted to go, just go quietly, you've got what you wanted you've got this commercialised deal where you're making huge amounts of money from the likes of Spotify and Netflix. But then you've got to produce the content. You know, I wrote a piece last week saying what is the content if it isn't the ongoing row with the Royals?"
Following the release of her new podcast Archetypes, the Duchess of Sussex has received criticism that is said to have concerned the Royal Family. During the first episode of the podcast, she talked to tennis star Serena Williams about ambition. In a recent episode that starred Mariah Carrey, however, the singer referred to Meghan as a "diva", something the Duchess of Sussex revealed she had to seek justification for.
