Phillip Schofield has reportedly received a healthy sum as compensation after leaving This Morning after 21 years as co-host of the popular ITV daytime show.
Despite making the decision to part ways, Phil is reported to be "completely broken" despite reportedly being given a golden handshake of up to six months' pay - believed to be more than £300,000.
The ITV presenter announced on Saturday that he would be parting ways with the flagship programme after a 13-year partnership with Holly Willoughby amid an ongoing 'feud' between the pair, which neither have confirmed.
Phillip's exit statement refused to address his co-host Holly despite their long-standing friendship while Holly praised Phillip in her comment on his departure.
The veteran broadcaster, 61, had been the face of the programme since 2002, where he initially worked alongside Fern Britton before Holly Willoughby replaced her in 2009.
A source told The Sun: "Phil has been given his This Morning wages for six months — but if that was meant to make him feel better, it’s just not working. Phil feels he has been shown zero respect and he is devastated by how this has played out.
"He thinks the way he was forced to step down was so unjust and he feels completely broken by how this situation has been handled. This Morning was Phil’s life and now he feels he has been knifed without proper consultation."
The source added that he spoke to his mum Pat, who he joined in Cornwall following the news of his departure, ex-wife Stephanie and daughters Molly and Ruby before agreeing to leave the show.
Mirror has contacted Phil's representatives for comment.
Phil’s contract was up in September. His place will be filled by other ITV hosts, with Alison Hammond as the main backup to Holly.
Alison is one of the favourites to co-host alongside Holly, with Rylan Clark, Dermot O'Leary, and Josie Gibson thought to be in the running.
A statement was released at 3pm on Saturday, which read: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently This Morning itself has become the story. Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
"I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on and I want to do what I can to protect the show I love. So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope the show can move forward to a bright future.
"I’d like to thank everyone who supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."
Meanwhile, Holly shared a statement on her own Instagram account: "It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.
"The sofa won’t feel the same without him."
