Phillip Schofield 'brings in lawyers and PR expert' over 'feud' with Holly Willoughby

Phillip Schofield has brought in the lawyers and working with a "top PR team" after 'falling-out' with Holly Willoughby, according to reports.

The This Morning hosts are back on the sofa today after a source told the Mirror Holly, 42, is ‘deeply upset’ after her co-host, 61, released a public statement about their friendship following reports of a rift.

It's been alleged the father-of-two kept Holly in the dark over his brother Timothy facing child sex offences, of which he was found guilty and will be sentenced next week.

However, Phil is now said to be 'toughing out' the situation with Holly after he was spotted today making his way into work.

Following the reported fall-out with the mum-of-three, the seasoned presenter is now said to have taken action to 'manage the crisis' and 'ensure favourable press coverage.'

Phil - who has hosted This Morning for more than 20 years - has consulted lawyers and is working with a top PR team, according to the Mail.

The outlet reports sources say it is a clear sign the presenter is "taking this very seriously" and is "keen to come out of the situation quickly".

The Mirror has contacted Phil's reps for comment.

Despite the drama surrounding the This Morning hosts, ITV has confirmed Holly and Phil will not be leaving the show in the immediate future.

The pair have suffered a number of low points in the last year, namely 'queuegate' when they were falsely accused of jumping the queue to see the late Queen Elizabeth lying in state and Phil taking time off during his brother's trial.

Holly was absent when Phil finally returned to screens last month and the Mirror exclusively reported the host had been pushing for ITV to make a decision on Schofield so she can rebrand herself and plan for the future if needs be.

Phil was instrumental helping to get the This Morning gig, insisting the then 28-year-old join him at the helm.

When Fern Britton announced she was stepping down from ITV's flagship daytime show in March 2009, a frantic search began to find her replacement.

Phillip claimed Holly was "at the top of everybody's list to pick up where Fern leaves off" and the "number one choice".

But it later transpired he was a lone voice in suggesting the wife of TV producer Dan Baldwin should get the job.

Speaking on Elizabeth Day's podcast How To Fail in November last year, Holly explained: "If it wasn't for Phil, I wouldn't be on This Morning now because everyone around him at the time when he suggested my name, were like, 'What? No! She might be alright in the fashion bit but there’s no way she could interview the Prime Minister…'"
