Phillies’ Bryson Stott Hilariously Explained How He 'Blacked Out’ After Grand Slam

Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott blasted a grand slam on Wednesday night that basically sealed his team's spot in the NLDS.

He doesn't really know what happened next.

After sending Citizens Bank Park into hysterics with his slam, which extended the Phillies lead to 7–0 over the Marlins, Stott spiked his bat into the ground in celebration.

The move invoked memories of teammate Rhys Hoskins’ huge postseason home run against the Braves last year.

Immediately, fans online drew attention to the similarities between the two moments.

But after the game, Stott revealed that he wasn't aware of how he had celebrated, as he had blacked out going around the bases.

“I couldn’t really hear anything,” Stott told NBC Sports Philly after the game. “I was yelling at the dugout and I couldn’t even hear my own words. Running around the bases it was kind of a blackout.”

Asked to compare his bat spike to Hoskins’s last year, again, Stott was stumped.

“I didn’t know I did that either until [catcher Garrett] Stubbs told me,” he admitted. “I’ll have to go back and watch it.”

Judging by the party taking place in the Phillies locker room after the win, Stott was not the only player who planned on forgetting things on Wednesday night.

With their win over the Marlins, the Phillies now face off against the Braves in a five-game series for a spot in the NLCS. Game 1 is on Saturday.
