Philippe Clement provides major injury update on five first-team Rangers players

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has provided a major injury update on five first-team players.

On the positive front, Rangers will be boosted by the return of Ridvan Yilmaz and Ross McCausland for this weekend's match against Dundee United.

Rangers will, though, be without Neraysho Kasanwirjo who has suffered a "long-term" setback and Rabbi Matondo who is dealing with a "small problem".

Oscar Cortes will not be available this weekend but is expected to come back into the fold next week as he returns to training.

"Kasanwirjo is going to have an appointment with a surgeon today, and we will have more news over the weekend - for sure a longer-term injury," Clement said when quizzed on the defender who was forced off with a knee problem while playing for the Netherlands under-21 side.

"A blow for everyone, especially for him. This is football, it is really hard as he was adapting really well."

On Matondo's issue, Clement stated: "Matondo has a small problem and won't be fit for the weekend."

Boosted by the return of Yilmaz and McCausland, Clement explained: "Ridvan is training with the team again and is available for selection tomorrow.

"Ross (McCausland) had a foot issue but is back now which is positive.

"The rest of the boys had a good international break. John Souttar had two really impressive games, that is a really good thing for the club."

On the progress of Cortes he added: "Cortes will be back to train with the team next week which is really positive."
