Philippe Clement offers firm response to Rangers trophy question

Philippe Clement insists he wants to win everything as Rangers manager.

The Belgian was this afternoon unveiled as the new head coach of the Ibrox club.

He spoke to the media in the Blue Room at the stadium as he outlined his vision for his time at the club and what he wants to achieve.

His first game will come on Saturday at home to Hibernian as Rangers looks to make up the seven-point gap Celtic have established at the top of the Premiership already.

The 49-year-old is used to winning silverware as a coach having previously lifted trophies at Club Brugge and Monaco.

And responding to a question during his press conference, he made it abundantly clear that he will not let up in his quest for more success in Glasgow.

Asked about his ambitions, he responded: "I already told you, I want to win everything. That's the mentality I have. I want to give this mentality towards the dressing room and create more winners.

"We will work really hard to win silverware as quickly as possible. I don't have a crystal ball and I'm not a magician, but I know if we can work with players for a long time, I know we can make them better.

"I've had very interesting talks with Graeme [Souness] and the board. How are we going to do it? Creating better athletes, football players, stronger mentalities. It's time, it's a very important thing.

"It can go really fast with the squad if they get more confidence and the fans get behind them. If you have 50,000 people behind you, you get stronger as a football player. So it's important to create that synergy. I hope the fans know how much power they have.

"There are 4 very important pillars. I want to create the best technical team, tactical team, physical team and mental team of the league. That's what I want to create, that's my ambition. If you do that, results follow."
