Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, it's the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra presenting the story of Superman in a multi-sensory experience with symphonic music and digitally projected animation in two rounds of "Metropolis".
The concert will take place at Prince Mahidol Hall of Mahidol University, Salaya campus, Phutthamonthon Sai 5 Road, on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 4pm.
The programme will begin with John Adams's Short Ride In A Fast Machine, an orchestral fanfare that portrays the experience of taking a ride in a zooming sports car.
Then, the audience will hear the jocular yet powerful sounds of one of the lowest instruments of the orchestra in Martin Ellerby's Euphonium Concerto. It will be rendered by the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra's own Boonyarit Kittaweepitak.
Finally, Superman comes to the concert hall in Michael Daugherty's Metropolis Symphony, which uses jazz, rock, funk, and a variety of other styles to bring the stories to life in a way that only a full orchestra can.
For this epic piece, the music will be brought to life with animated graphics, digitally projected on all sides of the hall, creating a visually and aurally immersive experience.
