Phil Neville sends clear message to Everton on Sean Dyche's future as manager

Phil Neville reckons Everton finally have the right manager in Sean Dyche to take them forward as his former club continue to plot their Premier League escape.

Having found themselves precariously in the bottom three, Everton are now two points above the relegation zone after their jaw-dropping victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Monday afternoon. Doubles from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil led the way in that astonishing 5-1 verdict as an own goal from Jason Steele added further gloss to the score-sheet.

It means the equation is quite simple for Dyche and his team heading into the run-in. However, as far as their ex-captain is concerned, Everton can also look to a brighter future on-field at least.

During an interview with broadcaster Sky Sports, Neville said: "I think the league table over a period of time never lies. You get out of it what you put into it and it's not the first season they have struggled.

"The next run of games are vital. It's really tight down the bottom.

"I love that football club and I hope they stay in the Premier League, but you think about the consistency of them being down the bottom and something needs to change. I think they've got the best manager in place now [Dyche] and he suits the values of Everton Football Club that I played for.

"When you think about what Frank [Lampard] did last year, keeping them in the Premier League, they never really built on that. I think that's the key."

Having moved away from the bottom three, Everton play Manchester City, Wolves and Bournemouth in their remaining three fixtures this season. Starting with City on Sunday afternoon (2pm), Dyche and his squad have home advantage at Goodison Park in two of those matches.
