Phil Neville has told Everton to find their next David Moyes in their search for a new manager.
Rafael Benitez was sacked on Sunday after a run of one win in 13 Premier League games left the Blues just six points clear of the relegation zone.
The appointment of the 61-year-old was a controversial one given his history with fierce rivals Liverpool but it was the dreadful run of results he oversaw that cost him his job.
And now, former manager Roberto Martinez has been linked with a sensational return to Goodison Park.

Martinez, who is currently in charge of the Belgium national team, managed Everton between 2013-16 and emerged as an earlier frontrunner to take over from Benitez.
There is a stumbling block, however, with his current employers keen for stability ahead of the World Cup later this year.
Neville hopes that whoever does become their next manager is one who is able to stay long-term and build a successful culture as Moyes once did, while playing 'the Everton way'.
Neville said: "I played for one of the best Everton managers in David Moyes, he lead the blueprints down in that he went out and recruited the right people for the team.
"He brought in good, young, hungry players who came in and played the Everton way, which is high-tempo and direct which caused problems for other teams.
"I hope Everton find someone like that."
As well as Martinez, current Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has been linked with the vacant position, along with club legend Duncan Ferguson.
