Phil Foden starts as Man City fans want three line-up changes vs Borussia Dortmund

Pep Guardiola has been urged to make three changes to his Manchester City team for the impending Champions League showdown with Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.

Having rubber-stamped group-stage progression with two matches to come, Guardiola and his star-studded men still have work to do to clinch top spot on their way to the knockout rounds. They could so exactly that with three points against their Bundesliga hosts on Tuesday night.

England internationals Kyle Walker (groin) and Kalvin Phillips (shoulder) are both unavailable for selection while fit-again Aymeric Laporte will continue to have his minutes managed after recovering from a knee problem, especially after he suffered a minor scare for City during their Premier League victory over Brighton.

Here is the starting XI that most City supporters want to see start in Germany on Tuesday (8pm):

Goalkeeper - Ederson

Even though Stefan Ortega represents quality back-up, there is only one choice here. Ederson will start.

Defenders - Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Joao Cancelo

With former Tottenham player Walker still on the treatment table, as well as previous injuries to others, Guardiola has had to shuffle his pack defensively so far this season. Laporte might sit this one out as a precaution as City fans hope to see Nathan Ake come in for the fit-again Spain international.

Midfielders - Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne

Rotation could be the order of the day here, too, although Phillips being unavailable means Rodri will have to turn out once again. Ilkay Gundogan is being tipped to stand in for Bernardo Silva to give the Portugal sensation a slight rest, although Kevin de Bruyne might also come under consideration to sit this one out.

Forwards - Riyad Mahrez, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden

Haaland must be chomping at the bit to make his first return to the club where he emerged among Europe's elite, while the Norway striker has already scored against his former employers this season. Riyad Mahrez is often a shoo-in for European nights as Phil Foden gets the nod over Jack Grealish here.
