Manchester City star Phil Foden has made a major Mason Mount admission as he prepares to fight with the Chelsea star for a starting spot at the World Cup.
Foden, Mount and Leicester star James Maddison are all set to compete for a first-team place in Gareth Southgate's England squad. The Three Lions kick off their World Cup campaign on Monday, November 21, against Iran before facing USA and Wales later in the group stage.
Mount has always been a consistently key performer at both club and international level, regardless of managerial changes, highlighting his influence and impact as a player. The 23-year-old has made a total of 32 competitive appearances for England since breaking into the international setup back in 2019, and former England midfielder Steven Gerrard has admitted to being a fan of the Chelsea star.

Speaking ahead of the World Cup, Foden has praised his competing teammates Mount and Maddison for their technical ability but feels the competition for places is a positive thing. The City superstar told The Daily Mail: "Technically, it's probably the best England squad I've seen.
"I like Mason Mount a lot and James Maddison as well, the way he plays. Players who can receive it in the pocket on the half-turn and can make the killer pass or shoot from distance.
"There is competition in every position. No matter who plays, the others will be supporting them because that's the kind of group we are. We just want the best out of each other."
Mount's form improved following the arrival of Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge, replacing Thomas Tuchel as manager, with the 23-year-old having registered eight goal contributions in 21 appearances across all competitions. It remains to be seen who Southgate looks to start for the World Cup opener on Monday, with Mount fighting against some top talents for a starting spot.
