Phil Foden leads Man City tributes as Iker Pozo leaves permanently and sends classy farewell message

Iker Pozo has left Manchester City after 10 years, with Phil Foden leading the messages to the midfielder after his permanent departure.

Pozo, 22, joined City from Real Madrid's youth system 10 years ago, making almost 100 appearances throughout the academy and featuring in friendlies for the first team, most notably on the 2019 pre-season tour. He spent a productive loan at FC Eindhoven in 2021, but last year saw a spell at HNK Rijeka cut short before making a single appearance due to a long-term injury.

Now, Pozo has returned to Croatia, this time on a permanent deal, to join HNK Sibenik, who sit ninth in the HNL top flight, one place and seven points ahead of the only relegation place in the division.

Taking to Instagram, Pozo shared a number of images of his time at City alongside the likes of Pep Guardiola, Riyad Mahrez and Txiki Begiristain, with the message: "Always a Blue."

His caption read: "It’s time to say goodbye [Man City], it’s been a privilege to play for this club and for such a long time, thank you to all my teammates and staff for all the good memories that I will never forget. Once a blue, always a blue…"

In the replies, Foden wrote: "All the best my friend, was a pleasure to play with you."

Other messages came from former City academy defenders Eric Garcia, Juan Larios and Adrian Bernabe, alongside current Blues Tommy Doyle, Yan Couto, Morgan Rogers, Tom Galvez and Mikki van Sas.

Announcing his move to Sibenik, Pozo later wrote: "So glad to join this project. Let's go all in!" His City contract was set to expire in the summer.
