Phil Foden injury: Man City star offers update after limping off against Real Madrid

Phil Foden moved to allay injury fears after Manchester City’s pulsating Champions League draw with Real Madrid.

The England international brought his side back into it with a fine strike in the second-half, levelling the game after quick-fire goals from Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo had cancelled out Bernardo Silva’s early free-kick.

With Kevin De Bruyne left on the bench due to illness, a lot of the creative onus fell on Foden, who was rested for Saturday’s comeback win over Crystal Palace.

He responded with a stunning strike into the top corner from just outside the box before Josko Gvardiol and Federico Valverde added to the list of stunning goals in a pulsating 3-3 draw.

Fears were sparked, however, when the 23-year-old was forced to limp off in the closing stages and replaced by Julian Alvarez.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Foden confirmed the issue was merely a dead leg and that he hoped to be available for City’s League clash with Luton on Saturday.

“Just got a bad dead leg at the end, time to recover before next games so hopefully I can,” he said.

"For the fans it must've been one of the best games they could've watched. Two great teams with the best attackers in the world. What the fans want to see and plenty of goals."

City host Madrid at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday April 16.
