Phil and Julie Neville get matching tattoos to mark important date with help from David and Victoria Beckham

Julie Neville has revealed that she and her ex Manchester United football star husband Phil have had tattoos to mark an important date in their lives. To celebrate her 45th birthday cookery author Julie and Inter Miami head coach Phil have had wedding bands inked along with the the year they got married.

Julie, who tied the knot with Phil at St James The Less Roman Catholic Church in Rawtenstall in December 1999 with guests including former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and David and Victoria Beckham, shared snaps of the inkings on her Instagram. The mum-of-two joked that 1999 being the year United won the treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League may have had an 'influence.'

She typed: "So today is my birthday and @philipneville18 decided to get a wedding band and the year we were married tattooed (also happens to be the year @manchesterunited won the treble which may also have had an influence)."

The Authentic Spanish Cooking and Superfoods: How to Make Them Work For You revealed that their friends the Beckhams organised the birthday tatts. "A big thank you to @davidbeckham and @victoriabeckham for organising this (and who also have the most entertaining footage of the event)" Julie added. And she said: "Thank you @philipneville18 I love you #itsmybirthday."

The birthday best wishes came pouring in for Julie, who met her former Lionesses' manager hubby at a friend's 21st birthday party while Phil's sister Tracey gasped: "Oh god" with a monkey covering eyes emoji.

After penning her first book Superfoods, which was published in 2017, Julie came up with the idea of bringing out an authentic Spanish cookbook in 2020 after the family lived in Spain for three years while Phil was coach at Valencia.

In a candid interview with the Manchester Evening News in 2020 Julie revealed she does the cooking and cleaning around the house and said her husband had never even made her a drink. "I do all the cooking at home. Phil doesn't know how to cook but I like it," she told us.

"We were recently 20 years married and people ask 'what is the key to it?'. We probably complement each other, we've both got very defined roles.

"I always want him to feel free to go off and take any jobs he wants or do what he wants and go where he wants when he wants, and he knows that I'll look after everything at home, whether that be the kids, the houses, business or whatever that is and I love cooking and cleaning. I love looking after the family. And it's not a role because I have to do it, it's the role that I choose and I really love that."

She added: "I do all the cooking which is why we're all healthy because Phil can't cook. He doesn't know how to cook anything. We've been married 20 years and we've been together 23 years and he's never even made me a drink, honestly."

The Nevilles have a son Harvey, 20, who plays for Inter Miami FC, and a daughter Isabella, 18. It was a difficult birth with Isabella as the baby's heart stopped for six minutes and Julie feared she was dying.

Paying tribute on their daughter's birthday in February Julie wrote: "Happiest of birthdays my princess @isabellaneville - 18 years ago today you were fighting for your life and we could never ever have imagined you would be the wonderful, bright, funny and talented young lady you are today and living life to the full.

"You are the most determined and courageous girl and we could not be prouder of all that you have achieved and how far you have come. Keep reaching for the stars my darling. We love you so much Xx"
