'Phenomenal' Leeds United star will be 'so important for USA hopes against England

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams will be the key man if the USA are to spring a surprise and get a positive result from England on Friday night, according to DaMarcus Beasley. The two countries go head-to-head in Friday night's Group B showdown, with the USA looking to build on their opening draw with Wales.

Adams, 23, starred for the US on Monday, and his performance against Welsh caught the eye of former US defender Beasley. The midfielder has made a big impression since joining Leeds United from RB Leipzig in the summer, and has taken that form into the World Cup.

Now Beasley believes the US skipper will be pivotal if they are to shock Gareth Southgate and Co at the Al Bayt Stadium.

“You look at our captain, he’s 23 years old, the youngest captain in the World Cup," Beasley told talkSPORT. "He came from one of the academies in MLS. He’s huge!

"He was the Man of the Match by far (against Wales), Tyler Adams from Leeds was phenomenal. Phenomenal. He’s going to be so important against England.”

Adams will complete his ban following the red card against Tottenham, with the midfielder available for the New Year's Eve game with Newcastle United at St James' Park.
