Phantom Peak to expand by 30,000sq ft as owners see uplift in customer confidence

Phantom Peak, the Western-style immersive gaming experience that broke ground just last summer, is set to expand with a complete overhaul, which will add a new 30,000sq ft mixed indoor and outdoor space to the existing site.

Featuring new games, trials and entirely new plots, the space — dubbed Platypus Parade — will arrive in March, clocking in at about four-and-a-half hours.

The change comes as the owners of the park say they’ve been renewed demand from Londoners keen for new experiences. Director Nick Moran told the Standard: “We’ve had such an amazing opening six months and learned a lot about what our customers want from an experience.

“People have shown they have an appetite for a new type of immersive entertainment: one where you are in control of the experience, free to explore and play your way. What they want want is more — more tech, more sets, more stories and a reason to come back.”

As part of the overhaul, 25 new permanent character actors will have their own individual storylines, discoverable during the experience, adding to the sense of what might be dubbed “playable theatre”.

Moran added: “Phantom Peak isn’t just a sequence of sets where guests follow a single narrative once, it’s a small town: they want more ways to interact, more ways to grab memories, mementoes and merchandise which we’ve done, and we want to give people what they want… which has given us the confidence to expand Phantom Peak and make the experience bigger.”

As such, the park is set to feature new competitive puzzles, carnival games, activities and hunts, alongside which will be a revamped array of restaurants, bars and shops, all in tune with the theme.

The new experience will run until June 1, when a new game is expected to be announced.
