The official 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year nominees were released ahead of the Hero World Challenge. This year, the shortlist features Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler. The PGA Tour Players Directors and Player Advisory Council (PAC) members determined the three finalists.
While the PGA Tour Council determines the list, the winner is decided amongst the PGA Tour members who have made at least 15 starts in the 2024 season.
Alongside the Arnold Palmer Award, the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year candidates were also announced, along with Nick Dunlap, Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp, and Mattieu Pavon, on the card.
Voting is already open and will conclude on December 4 at 5 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced by the end of the year.
Jack Nicklaus Award Nominees
For the first time since Tiger Woods, a player on the Tour has a chance of winning PGA Tour Player of the Year for three consecutive years. Scheffler was named the Play of the Year in 2022 and 2023 and is the favorite to win again in 2024.
Scheffler’s consistency has shined through in 2024 with seven wins over 19 events including the Masters, Players Championship, four signature events and Tour Championship. Scheffler had one of the greatest seasons in PGA Tour history along with a gold medal at the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Schauffele snagged two major championships. The San Diego native made history of his own in 2024. He did not miss a single cut this year, finishing the year with 15 top 10s. Schauffele holds the longest active made-cut streak with 56 straight since Tiger Woods’ record from 1998-2005.
Lastly, McIlroy slips into the voting ballot after another solid season. The Irishman recorded two wins and seven top 10s. He has been nominated for the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third year in a row.

PGA Tour Rookie of the Year 2024
It will be a tight race for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. Despite the hot start for Nick Dunlap stealing the American Express, other players like Jake Knapp, Mxx Greyserman, and Mattieu Pavon have had stellar seasons.
Dunlap was the first player ever in PGA Tour history to win an event as an amateur and professional in the same season. Other rookies like Knapp and Pavon also joined the winner’s list this season to add their names to the ballot for the award.
Despite not recording a win, Greyseman was consistent all year long. He had an excellent season with six top 10 finishes and is currently 9th in scoring average on the Tour.
