The cornerbacks that the Minnesota Vikings have been sent in mock drafts recently fit the motif of what new defensive coordinator Brian Flores wants from his defense: ability to play man coverage and play with aggressiveness.
Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema agrees and sent the Vikings one in latest mock draft in Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks.
“The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Banks stands out as a man coverage outside cornerback. He does lack consistency when it comes to mirroring off press coverage, but when he’s in sync, he’s one of the best cover cornerbacks in the class. The Vikings need to invest in a player like that on the outside.”
Banks would be a fun addition to the Vikings’ secondary. He is a very physical cornerback that attacks the ball. This past season, he was trusted to play against Marvin Harrison Jr. and did well in doing so.
