PFF picks ‘top priority’ for Jaguars this offseason

For each of the 18 NFL teams that missed the playoffs, Pro Football Focus went through and selected what the “top priority” for each organization needs to be in the coming months. So, what did PFF select for the Jaguars?

After a four-win season, there are a few different paths that PFF could have gone down with Jacksonville, including bolstering the offensive line to help the run game, which, as Trevor Lawrence described recently, would help limit some of the “predictability” within the offense.

However, PFF went more big picture with their selection, saying that the Jaguars need to “find an identity” on both sides of the football.

This sentiment aligns quite well with what Lawrence is looking for in a new head coach. Offensive or defensive background aside, more than anything, Lawrence wants someone who can step in and “set the culture.”

“There’s a lot of things,” said Lawrence on Thursday. “But just as far as a leader, you want the right guy that’s going to be the right leader and voice for your team and set that culture.

“Just to be a tough team–mentally, physically that can withstand the ups and downs of a season. I think that that was something that two years ago we did a great job of, but whatever reason this year we weren’t able to do that.”

With that type of leader and stability at the helm, that should help the Jaguars establish an identity on both offense and defense.
