The Cleveland Browns fielded one of the league’s worst defenses in 2022. However, they have the talent and a new bright mind as defensive coordinator in Jim Schwartz. It is not an unrealistic expectation that some of the underachievers return to form and take a leap in 2023. One of those players is linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who PFF has named as a breakout candidate for the Browns:
“Cleveland’s defense dramatically underachieved this season, but if things are better across the board in 2023, it should allow a talented playmaker like linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to shine.
Buy Browns TicketsJOK was a dynamo as a rookie, but he put up average PFF grades and allowed a passer rating of 122.7 into his coverage this season.”
The linebacker unit is not as bad as advertised, but getting elite-level play, which he still flashed in a down year, out of Owusu-Koramoah will go a long way toward the long-term stability of the second level.
