The New York Giants made it a clear priority this offseason to improve the weapons around Daniel Jones. General manager Joe Schoen and the team’s front office did just that via free agency, on the trade market and in the NFL draft as well.
There is no doubt the Giants improved their offense between the additions of Darren Waller, Jalin Hyatt and Parris Campbell.
Pro Football Focus highlighted the improvements in the Giants’ passing game as a reason for optimism going into 2023.
NEW YORK GIANTS: EXPANDED PASSING ATTACK
For as good as Daniel Jones was in 2022, he wasn’t one to push the ball down the field. He ranked 31st among qualifying quarterbacks in yards per attempt (6.8) and 47th in average depth of target (6.4). There is reason to believe the Giants ramp that up this year, given their passing weapons. They drafted Jalin Hyatt, one of the best deep-threat receivers in college football in 2022, and traded for Darren Waller, who has ranked in the top 10 in yards per route and average depth of target among tight ends since 2019.
In addition to the weapons mentioned, the Giants also added Jamison Crowder and Jeff Smith in the interest of depth while also retaining Isaiah Hodgins, Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. They should also welcome back Wan’Dale Robinson from injury early in the season.
With the weapons added to the Big Blue offense, the Giants hope to improve their overall production in 2023.
