When the New York Giants selected left tackle Andrew Thomas fourth overall in the 2020 NFL draft, the hope was he would be a cornerstone piece to build around.
After rookie-year struggles, Thomas looked to be on his way to being a draft bust.
Now, just two short years later, Thomas is one of the Giants’ best players.
Pro Football Focus is ranking their top 50 players across the league ahead of the 2023 season and Thomas came in at No 32 on that list.
32. T ANDREW THOMAS, NEW YORK GIANTS
The 2022 season marked the arrival of Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas as one of the very best in the game. Thomas has consistently improved after an ugly start to his rookie year, and last year he was a dominant force. He allowed just 23 total pressures across 18 games and earned an 81.0 run-blocking grade, making him one of just three tackles to grade above 80.0 in both facets of play.
Thomas made a substantial jump last season and is now arguably one of the best at his position. He earned Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2022 and arguably should have been First-Team All-Pro.
Thomas is still on his rookie deal and will be cashing in on a big payday soon enough. That’s, obviously, a good problem for the Giants to have as Thomas provides them with a key player for Joe Schoen to build around.
Thomas is one of the best young players in the league and may continue to climb the ranks of this list if he continues to follow the trajectory of improvement over his first three years in the league.
