The Miami Dolphins struggled along the offensive line more than any team in 2021, as the group gave up the most pressures of any unit in the league while also having the worst run-blocking metrics.
If the Dolphins want to see improvement in the consistency and potency of their offense, it starts with the performance of the big guys up front. That’s why, this offseason, Miami will likely be looking to free agency and the draft for some new blood in the group.
Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus’ Conor McQuiston listed the best the NFL team fits for some of the draft’s top prospects, and he had the Dolphins as a landing spot that makes sense for Texas A&M offensive lineman Kenyon Green.
Here’s McQuiston’s reasoning:
“The Dolphins are another unfortunate case where any offensive line improvement would be of immense assistance. Only a single player, guard Robert Hunt, had a pass-blocking grade above 50.0 on true pass sets. Things weren’t much better in the run game, either, as only two linemen had run-blocking grades north of 60.0 on early downs.
Direct statistical comparison to other offensive linemen for Green is a tad awkward since he played 30% of his snaps at tackle last season. With this in mind, his run-block win rate on zone runs of 89.8% puts him as the 35th-best of the 101 FBS IOL drafted since 2015 and roughly 60th of 117 FBS OTs. His pass-block win rate of 93.2% on standard pass sets puts him at 85th among FBS IOL but roughly 61st amongst OTs. From this we can conclude that while Green may not be a high-level pass protector right away, he ought to bring some competency to the position while also being a strong addition to Miami’s zone-heavy run scheme under new coach Mike McDaniel.”
Green has been mocked to the Dolphins on multiple occasions including once in November by CBS and once in February by NFL.com. He’s also a prospect that, because of his versatility, Miami could target no matter which direction they go in free agency.

- 40-yard dash: 5.24 seconds
- Bench press: 20 reps
- Vertical jump: 26 inches
- Broad jump: 102 inches
- 20-yard shuttle: 5.12 seconds
