Based on team needs, Pro Football Focus recently selected one early-round prospect from the upcoming 2025 NFL draft for each of the 32 teams. So, which player did the pick for the Indianapolis Colts?
The position group that PFF chose to address isn’t a surprise–it’s cornerback. Arguably, the Colts’ biggest need this offseason.
The prospect that was selected for this exercise was Notre Dame’s Benjamin Morrison.
“Morrison earned PFF coverage grades above 80.0 in 2022 and 2023, and he was having another solid season in 2024 before it was ended by injury. From 168 coverage snaps over the first seven weeks of the season, he allowed just 12 receptions from 27 targets.”
Morrison’s 2024 season for the Irish ended in October when he underwent hip surgery. In the six games he played this season, Morrison allowed a completion rate of only 44% and just 10.4 yards per catch with two pass breakups.
For his career, which spanned three seasons, quarterbacks are completing just 46% of their passes against Morrison and pass-catchers are averaging a modest 11.9 yards per catch. He also has nine total interceptions during that span and 12 pass breakups.

“Overall, Morrison is an elite physical talent with sharp processing ability and playmaking chops who, in spite of his middling size, has impressive feistiness, both in coverage and support. He’ll have to continue adding mass to his frame, but he’s a scheme-versatile CB prospect with All-Pro upside and lockdown potential in man.”
For the second offseason in a row, GM Chris Ballard was again answering questions about the play of the secondary, saying, “we’ve got to get better.”
This is a group that allowed the fifth-most yards per pass attempt, had the second-highest-completion percentage, and the fourth-fewest pass deflections.
