The bye week has finally arrived for the Indianapolis Colts. So which players on the offensive side of the ball now 13 games into their 2024 season have received the highest-marks from Pro Football Focus?
If you’re new here, when talking about PFF’s grades I always do provide the disclaimer that this isn’t the be-all-end-all when it comes to player evaluation. Although they can be quite helpful at quantifying an individual performance, it is one of many metrics that are out there, and should be treated as such.
But with that said, typically speaking, if a player is performing well, the grades reflect that.
Here is a look at PFF’s grading system to provide some context behind the numbers:
90.0+: Elite
80-89.9: High quality
70-79.9: Good
60-69.9: Above average
50-59.9: Average
40-49.9: Below average
39.9 or less: Poor
WR Josh Downs
PFF grade: 87.8
As the offense has navigated ups and downs in the passing game, Downs has provided a steady presence and compared to the rest of the NFL, has been one of the most productive slot receivers in the game. Downs has caught 72 percent of his targets for 594 yards with four touchdowns, including 31 of his 53 receptions going for first downs.
LT Bernhard Raimann
PFF grade: 84.7
Raimann has continued to build upon what was a strong 2023 season. By PFF’s metrics, he has allowed only 12 pressures in 322 pass-blocking snaps and three sacks. Among all tackles, he ranks 19th in pass-blocking efficiency and is 15th in run-blocking grade.
LG Quenton Nelson
PFF grade: 80.7
Nelson has been penalized 10 times this season, but has overall played at a high level. He’s surrendered 15 pressures and only one sack in 460 pass-blocking snaps. Nelson ranks 13th in pass-blocking efficiency among guards and is sixth in run-blocking grade.
Of note, Will Fries, who is on injured reserve has a grade of 86.9, while Danny Pinter, who made his 2024 debut this past Sunday, has a grade of 82.9.
Honorable Mentions
WR Alec Pierce: 72.9
TE Drew Ogletree: 70.9
WR Michael Pittman: 70.9
