Netflix has released a funny new commercial featuring former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning to promote the streaming platform’s sports shows and documentaries.
Manning, of course, serves as an executive producer for Quarterback, his show that follows QBs through the grind of an NFL season.
The first season of Manning’s Quarterback featured Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Kirk Cousins (Vikings) and Marcus Mariota (Falcons). Season 2 is being filmed during the 2023 season, so Netflix has been promoting the first season while creating buzz for Season 2.
Some quarterbacks have turned down being featured on the show because they are worried having cameras following them around would be a distraction. Mahomes didn’t seem to be distracted last year when he won the Super Bowl, and Manning is using that in his recruiting pitch to other QBs.
“Look, we are all set to move forward with season two of this series Quarterback, and we have a lot of quarterbacks that want to do it because now they realize, ‘Hey, if I do this, I’m going to win the Super Bowl and be the MVP of the league,'” Manning said in an interview with Netflix’s William Emmershy. “Right? Mahomes has shown that. We had a couple quarterbacks pass last year because they said this might be too much of a distraction. Don’t say that because that is not true.”
