Stylian Petrov believes Celtic midfielder Arne Engels has the ability to become ‘world class’.
Engels completed an £11million switch from FC Augsburg on the final day of the 2024 summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old penned a four-year-deal at the Scottish champions, but began life in Glasgow quite slowly, leading to pundits and supporters questioning his hefty price tag.
However, the Belgian has two goals and as many assists from his last seven appearances and appears to be maturing with every outing in Hoops colours.
Speaking to exclusively with Gambling.com, Petrov said: "He has all the tools [to become an elite or world-class player] - technically, tactically, and physically, especially. He's got all the attributes.
"He's in the right place playing at Celtic, because if he continues to develop in the same way that will create an even bigger winning mentality in him. He's working with a really great manager who does develop players, does develop their play, and it’s something that will help him.

"But also having players like Callum McGregor, who has seen many, many good players going through the club - he will guide him in the right direction and make sure that he produces performances at the right level."

Petrov captained both"I support both teams," stated the Bulgarian. "I've been on social media and sometimes people ask you who you support - Celtic or Villa, don’t stay on the fence. When both teams play, I support them both.
"For me it’s just about enjoying the game. Both teams are playing very good football, with two great managers. So for me, it’s just to see where my two former teams are standing at the moment.
"Seeing them play against each other is just great for football. Two great clubs, two great managers and two great sets of fans. What else could you wish for?
"To be captain of these two teams, it's a great honour. Especially these two teams with great fanbases.
"It will be a cracking game. It’s great to see both teams doing really well, strengthening their squads and having great managers. Because I was part of it and I know how important success is to these two teams."
