Petrol price crosses ₹120 mark in Andhra Pradesh

The price of petrol in Andhra Pradesh crossed the ₹120 mark on April 5 following the ₹0.80 hike. Petrol and diesel prices in the State continue to be the highest in the south of India and the second-highest in the country after Maharashtra.

In Vijayawada, the price of a litre of petrol is ₹119.98 at Indian Oil fuel stations and it is ₹120 at Bharat Petroleum fuel stations. Diesel price is at ₹105.68. In the past two weeks, petrol price has increased by ₹9 and diesel price has increased by ₹9.8 increasing the burden on motorists exponentially. On March 22, the prices of petrol and diesel were ₹110.79 and ₹96.87 respectively in the city. Exactly six months ago, on October 3, 2021 the price of petrol in Vijayawada was ₹108.29 and that of diesel was ₹100.30.

The price of petrol in Nellore at ₹120.96 is the highest in the State, according to the price list provided by Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum corporations.

While petrol price is more than ₹120 in Guntur, Srikakulam, Kakinada, Eluru, Tirupati, Anantapur, Kurnool it is between ₹119 and ₹120 in the remaining cities and towns including Visakhapatnam, Ongole, Kadapa and Vizianagaram.

Diesel in Nellore and Tirupati is at over ₹106 per litre while in other districts it is more than ₹105. In Visakhapatnam it is ₹104.7.

In addition to the VAT, Andhra Pradesh levies ₹4 additional VAT per litre and ₹1 road development cess per litre of fuel. Meanwhile, petrol price is more than ₹121 in Nanded, Jalna, Buldhana and a few other places in Maharashtra according to the HP Corporation. Elsewhere, the prices are less than ₹119. In the cities of States in the south of India, the prices are as follows: Hyderabad (₹118.58), Chennai (₹110.08), Tiruvananthapuram (₹116.3) and Bellary (₹112.13).
