Petr Cech set for crunch Chelsea talks following Todd Boehly's major board reshuffle

Petr Cech is reportedly considering his future at Chelsea following the reshuffle of the Club's board. That's according to GOAL, who say that Cech had a strong working relationship with former owner Roman Abramovich and the former Blues goalkeeper is now set for talks with the new consortium.

Chelsea released a statement on Wednesday morning, which confirmed the new-look board at Stamford Bridge: "Chelsea Football Club today announced a series of appointments to its Board of Directors and other leadership changes."

Todd Boehly said: "As custodians of Chelsea FC, we now begin executing our long-term vision and plan for the Club, creating an outstanding experience for its passionate, loyal fans, and continuing to challenge for top honours in line with Chelsea FC's decorated history. Working together, side-by-side, we are firmly committed to winning, both on and off the pitch. For us, that effort has begun."

Boehly is now the new chairman of the board of Chelsea, effective immediately and has also stepped into the sporting director role on an interim basis. This follows the news that Marina Granovskaia will leave the club, but the Russian businesswoman, who has been at Chelsea for just under 20 years, will offer her expertise in a non-official role for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

The reshuffling of the board has made Cech, who is the current technical and performance advisor at the club, consider his future. The former Chelsea goalkeeper is set to hold talks with the new owners regarding his role at the club moving forward.

Speaking in 2019, shortly after he returned to Chelsea as an advisor, the Czech went into detail about what his new job role consisted of. He said: "It is a different life; as a player, you have a responsibility for yourself.

"For being part of the team. You are responsible for the club's image. But now the responsibility is to work with a big group of people, to make sure they connect. The power of the team is in the unit. If everybody works for one common goal, this is how you win."
