Petition to ban Katie Price from new dog ownership reaches 20,000 signatures

An online petition to ban TV star Katie Price from owning dogs for life has reached a height of 20,000 signatures on Tuesday afternoon, after a picture was released of her new dog.

The petition began in 2021, and has seen a huge jump in signatures since tiny puppy Captain's arrival, as reported by Plymouth Live.

It has been reported that Katie shared a photo of herself with Captain on Instagram, and has been hit with hate almost immediately.

One Instagram user said: "That poor dog, being used like an accessory.”

Another wrote: "Poor dog, being held terribly!”

In previous accounts of poor dog handling, Katie's alsatian Sparkle had been hit by a car in 2020 after it ran into the street, breaking out of her home.

In 2021, Harvey, Katie's eldest son, tragically found their pet bulldog Precious dead after it was trapped under an armchair.

And after this awful story broke, one member of the public took it upon themselves to start a petition, stating: "No more animals need to die.”

The petition's statement reads: "A puppy has died in the last 24 hours in Katie Price’s care, she bought this puppy for her 13-year-old child 3 weeks ago.

“In the last five years more animals have died from lack of care. Horses. Dogs. Cats Lizards Hedgehogs. This isn’t a single family tragedy. It’s a common thing in Katie Price’s home.”

The statement continued to discuss some more alleged issues within Katie's ownership of animals, adding: "Two dogs have been ran over. Puppies were found dead drowning in a neglected swimming pool.”

And animal rights group PETA have even weighed in on the situation, as they spoke to The Sun about her "reckless" behaviour.

Organisation director Elisa Allen said: "And any breeder willing to sell to her is clearly putting profit over the animal’s welfare."

A spokesperson for Katie said “Katie can do no right in some people’s eyes; Katie has always been an avid pet lover and as we’ve mentioned before, Kate would welcome a conversation with PETA organisational director Elisa Allen, but Elisa has yet to get in touch.”
