Darts ace Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright paid tribute to Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow at last night’s Premier League Darts. Wright, a proud Rhinos fan, wore a one-off jersey in the blue and amber colours of Leeds at the city’s First Direct Arena.
It was specially made by his wife Joanne as a tribute to Headingley great Burrow, who picked up his MBE from Windsor Castle earlier this week. The Rhinos legend has described his shock at being made an MBE by the Princess Royal, saying he was “absolutely honoured”.
Burrow, 39, had an illustrious playing career with Leeds, winning eight Grand Finals and 20 international caps before retiring from the sport in 2017.

He was then diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2019. Since his diagnosis, Burrow has openly shared his life and campaigned for all individuals impacted by the disease.
Burrow tweeted his appreciation of Wright’s support for him at the darts, saying: “Thanks so much for your kind gesture. I do hope it brings you luck. #grateful.”
Wright is a two-time world champions and big Leeds Rhinos fan, which resulted in the tribute. 52-year-old Wright defeated St Helens fan Michael Smith in the first round before being defeated by Dutchman Michael Van Gerwen.
