Peter Kay tickets already being resold for ridiculous prices as fans struggle to get seats for shows

Tickets for Peter Kay's sold out Liverpool tour dates are already being resold for massively hiked prices.

The comedian announced last week he will be embarking on a UK-wide arena tour starting in December. It will the first time in 12 years Peter, 49, has been on tour.

The new shows were announced during an I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! ad break, with a hilarious clip of Peter carrying a roll of carpet and shouting to a man in a car. He also released a statement saying "if there's ever a time people need a laugh it's now".

Peter, known for the sit-coms Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy's trip to nowhere, is due to appear at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7. But tickets for the two shows sold out in less than 30 minutes, with desperate fans forced to join the back of ticket queues for Manchester.

This morning Ticketmaster announced eight more shows in Manchester in response to the extraordinary demand. Fans of the Bolton-born comedian who would rather hedge their bets at finding a ticket for his sold-out Liverpool shows will battle with massively hiked resell prices.

On popular ticket resell website Viagogo some tickets are currently going for around £250. Before they went on sale, Peter said his ticket prices would start at £35 - the same price as his previous tour 12 years ago. In a statement Peter said this was due to "the cost of living [being] at an all-time high."

Fans voiced their frustration at those who brought multiple tickets only to resell them on ticket sites. One person said: "You can get tickets on Viagogo for any venue and dates at the moment. Obviously massively hiked prices - they know what they're doing. Bloody scam all round."

Another person added: Tickets sold out in 20 minutes for Liverpool. People selling them for 300+ a seat. Scandalous." A third person said: "It should be illegal to buy up and then sell way above face value."
