Peter Kay fans who secretly filmed the comedian at his comeback gig last night were reportedly 'thrown out' of Manchester's AO Arena.
The comedian, 49, banned the audience from recording him on stage, warning fans to "put their phones away". Pleading with the sell-out crowd not to reveal his punchlines, Peter had the audience in stitches.
However, some people broke the rules, with one fan tweeting: "Filming was strictly forbidden I only snuck this pic and a couple others. People were getting thrown out near me for it!"
While another said: "Was at Peter Kay last night and people were telling the phone plebs to put their phones away. They are the ultimate entitled p******s.
"They don’t care whose experience they ruin as long as the people they don’t really know on Social media know where they are."
The Mirror has contacted the AO Arena for comment.
The comedian's gig saw a welcome return for the much-loved comic, who took a 12-year hiatus from the stage, citing "unforeseen family circumstances".
Fans went into a frenzy when the star announced his comeback tour last month with more dates needing to be added to the line-up to meet demand.
Making the gigs even more enticing, Peter decided to keep the tickets at the lowest possible price, charging only £35 per ticket - the same fee he charged for his last tour back in 2010.
The star mixed new and old material at his debut last night, including a witty skit about a genitally-joined couple as well as revamped "garlic bread?"' gag.
Peter was overcome with emotion when he walked out on stage, where he was met with rapturous applause and standing ovation.
Wiping the tears from his eyes, he said: 'Aw you’ll have me in bits. Lovely Manchester you made me cry. I can’t believe I cried, where did it come from all that emotion?"
Fans were delighted to see the star back in action with several taking to social media praising Peter for his return.
One said: "It was absolutely amazing, totally worth the wait. And the ending, oh my god. It was so special. He was on top form. At the start as well he started crying, he didn’t get going for a bit because everyone was on their feet."
While another gushed: "And the end was just a complete surprise, didn’t not expect it at all. It was absolutely amazing. When it first started there was a standing ovation and he cried, it was totally genuine, you could tell it meant a lot to him. It was wonderful.”
