Fans of Peter Kay were not impressed when the O2 Priority website crashed just moments after releasing tickets for his comeback tour.
The Farnworth-born comedian recently announced he would be returning to the stage following a lengthy hiatus, giving fans just 24 hours' notice before dropping tour tickets.
Peter, 42, last toured the nation 12 years ago and faced criticism from some after revealing dates for the north of England, before announcing a historic run at London's O2 Arena.
However, the website for O2 Priority which was selling pre-sale tickets appeared to crash after just several minutes.
Fans of the star were far from impressed as they flocked to social media to share their rage, with one writing: "O2 priority website crashed and not working just as Peter Kay tickets are about to go on sale."
A second added: "Peter Kay has crashed every app going as if getting tickets wouldn’t already be hard enough to get."
"Peter Kay has crashed the O2 Priority app and website and the tickets aren't even on sale yet. Love ticket stress me," tweeted a third.
Meanwhile, O2 responded to the criticism by saying: "We're seeing extraordinary demand for Peter Kay. We know customers are struggling to get on to our Priority website and app before 10am, we're working on it. Please be patient, thank you."
In a statement, a spokesperson for Virgin Media O2 told The Mirror: "We've seen unprecedented levels of visitors to our Priority platform for Peter Kay tickets. As a result, some customers are experiencing difficulties trying to use the app and website despite us putting additional resources in place to help cope with such demand. We apologise and we're doing everything we can to get it back up and running as soon as possible."
But it wasn't just O2 who caused anger amongst fans, with the Three+ app also crashing, with one user saying: "What the hell…. O2 priority and Three+ are all down.. you’d have thought they would have prepared for the surge in visitors for @peterkay_co_uk tickets."
"O2 priority logged me out and now three+ keep logging me out every time I log back in. Gonna be a nightmare even trying to get Peter Kay tickets," tweeted another.
Before a third tweeted: "Perfect timing for the Three+ app to log me out and not sign me back in 30 mins before Peter Kay tickets come out."
The much-loved comedian had been away from the spotlight for five years and recently joked that he thought he would have to be dead to make the news again.
However, he recently opened up about keeping his rickets at £35, the same price as his tour in 2010 due to the ongoing cost of living crisis which is affecting millions of Brits.
Appearing on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast show on Wednesday, Peter said he "can't get his head around" the reaction from the nation.
Peter, who has been practising his new material in a few warm-up gigs, admitted he wanted to call the tour "Peter Who" due to his lengthy hiatus.
Tickets for Peter's tour go on general sale at 10.30am on November 12.
