Peter Kay took to the stage in front of an audience at the Ivor Novello Awards in a rare public appearance.
The beloved comedian has shielded away from public attention in recent years, and surprised fans when he made an appearance to address spectators at the awards ceremony.
TV historian Lucy Worsley shared a photo of the 48-year-old on Twitter, captioning her snap: "And is that REALLY Peter Kay??? And yet ..."
The comedian dressed up for the occasion, wearing a grey two-piece suit as he spoke on the microphone in front of a crowd of attendees, writes the Mirror.
The Ivor Novello Awards, named after the entertainer Ivor Novello, are rewarded to artists exceptional songwriting and composing.
Peter has rarely been seen in the public eye since his tour in 2011, apart from appearing in a few special events.
However, Peter Kay fans may not have to wait long for his epic return.
Fellow comedian Jason Manford, 40, has raised hopes of a big comedy comeback telling Peter fans to "keep an eye out".
Speaking on Dublin radio station FM104's Strawberry Alarm Clock show, Jason said: "He's great, Pete. We've known each other a long time, it must be 25 years. It's been a hell of a ride.
"He's just an absolute legend isn't he? What a treasure. Hopefully back himself soon, doing stand-up, so keep your eye out for his tour. Not that he needs you to buy a ticket as much as I do."
In 2018, Peter scrapped all 100 dates of his sold out tour, Peter Kay Live Arena Tour, months before it was due to start citing "unforeseen family circumstances".
He wrote on Facebook at the time: "Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects."
"My apologies. I'm sure you'll understand that my family must always come first."
