Peter Kay has announced more dates have been added to his 2023 comeback tour shortly after fans revealed their struggle to buy tickets.
The comedian, 49, tweeted the move shortly after the £35 tickets to his comeback tour went on general release this morning.
However, some fans struggled to get their hands on tickets – with many moaning on Twitter about technical difficulties and the queue length.
To meet the huge demand, which saw more than 200,000 people in the virtual queue, the Bolton-born comic announced even more dates.
Peter tweeted: "Extra dates added to Peter Kay's arena tour! Tickets on sale now".
He added two more dates to his London residency along with seven extra dates in Manchester as well as more dates in Birmingham – both in 2023 and 2024.
More than 200,000 fans of the stand-up comedian flocked onto websites in a bid to get themselves in to see the comic on his first tour in 12 years this morning.
Some had joked the tickets were harder to get hold of than Glastonbury passes.
One wrote: "i actually think the glastonbury queue was less stressful than try for peter kay tickets when he’s got about 7 manchester shows … a joke". [sic]
Another fumed: "Absolute joke Had tickets in the bag for Saturday in Cardiff then got chucked out at check out".
"It’s hopeless in a number of queues and I know I have no chance touts will have a ball at 10 tickets each," another said.
Meanwhile, Ticketmaster urged fans to be patient as they tweeted: "As expected, Peter Kay is super popular this morning. To make it as fair as possible, we have put everyone in a queue. Be patient and don’t refresh or you’ll lose your place."
Fans trying to get pre-sale tickets via O2 Priority ahead of general release faced difficulties on Friday.
The mobile network revealed they had experienced the "highest demand" in 15 years.
O2 tweeted on Friday: "We’re seeing unprecedented demand for Peter Kay tickets & we know a lot of you can’t access Priority. Sorry, we’re working on it. Please be patient; this is by far the highest demand we’ve ever seen for Priority Tickets in 15 years. The presale lasts for 48h so keep checking."
Meanwhile, the much-loved comedian shared a statement on his own Twitter page, which was from organiser SJM Concerts, in reaction to the huge demand.
It read: "We'd like to acknowledge and apologise for a number of technical issues customers experience while trying to buy tickets for Peter Kay's upcoming tour via the O2 Priority pre-sale earlier today.
"SJM Concerts would like to reassure customers that substantial provision has been put in place for the main ticket on-sale this Saturday 12th at 10am.
"Plenty of tickets will be available throughout the day so please persevere and please buy from official ticket outlets listed on the attached link."
Peter Kay's comeback tour sees him touring for the first time in 12 years.
