Peter Haring Hearts red card gets Ref Watch treatment as Dermot Gallagher delivers his view

Dermot Gallagher has explained why Peter Haring was RIGHT to be sent off for Hearts.

The Jambos star was handed his marching orders during the weekend share of the spoils with St Mirren as the fight to finish best of the rest behind Celtic and Rangers continues. Steven Naismith described the performance of his troops as a 'tale of two halves' as Lawrence Shankland's last gasp penalty completed a comeback from two-goals down.

It leaves Hearts trailing Aberdeen by five points going into the final three Premiership meetings. The duo face off in the capital this weekend and the hosts will be hoping to keep 11 men on the park after red cards in their last two outings. The Tynecastle side have lodged an appeal against the dismissal but former English Premier League whistler Gallagher believes the decision to send him off was CORRECT.

He told Sky Sports : "I actually thought before he got sent off, 'he's going'. If you watch, I just thought 'bang, he's going to go.

"When you see it, does he actually catch him? I think the when the referee sees him come in like that..

"I think it ticks a few boxes. I think his impact and intensity was a lot more."

A short Hearts statement read: "The club can confirm it has today submitted a wrongful dismissal claim in regard to Peter Haring’s red card against St Mirren.

"No further comment will be made until the appeal has been heard."
