A TV cameraman has been left with a bloody face after the leader of the Opposition, Peter Dutton, accidentally kicked a football into his face during a photo-op in Darwin.
Alongside Northern Territory senator Jacinta Price, Dutton was in Darwin earlier today playing football with local children at the Cazalys Oval.
Dutton was kicking the ball back and forth to several kids, before a misguided shot flew directly into the face of Channel 10 cameraman, Ghaith Nadir, who was filming Dutton on the field.
Nadir is then seen taking off his gear and handing it to a colleague immediately after the collision.
“That’s your exclusive footage too, mate,” Dutton joked to Nadir shortly after the football blunder.
Nadir was approached by his fellow media colleagues, who tended to Nadir’s head wound with a bandage. The Opposition leader also offered to buy a beer for Nadir in apology.

Dutton also joked that it was his “Scott Morrison moment”, referring to the 2022 incident that saw the former Prime Minister tackle a small child in Tasmania.
“If [Anthony Albanese] kicked it, he would have told you that it didn’t hit anyone, and you’re imagining something, that it just didn’t happen,” Dutton quipped to the media.
Dutton’s comment seemingly references an incident with Albanese earlier this week, which saw the PM accidentally fall off stage in Cessnock, NSW. Albanese quickly recovered and was assisted by bystanders close by.
In an interview with ABC Radio, Albanese said to host Kathryn Robinson that he didn’t “fall off” the stage.
“No, I stepped back one step, I didn’t fall off the stage,” Albanese said.
With a campaign filled with stage falls and football injuries, it’s clear to see that 2025 is shaping up to be a pretty bonkers election year.
