Peter Crouch makes funny Darwin Nunez Liverpool prediction after Man City goal

Former Liverpool forward Peter Crouch has backed Darwin Nunez to 'score loads' this season following his goal against Manchester City.

The forward sealed a 3-1 Community Shield win over Pep Guardiola’s side with a header from close-range. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah were also on target for the Reds.

Nunez joined the Reds in the summer from Benfica back in June. The forward signed a six-year contract with the Anfield club.

The Reds will pay a set fee of £64.1million (€75m) with a possible £21.3m (€25m) in add-ons depending on individual success, ranging from reaching appearance landmarks, scoring goals to winning the Champions League. Nunez scored both in both legs of Benfica's Champions League quarter-final defeat to Liverpool in April, two of 34 goals he netted in 41 games for the Portuguese side this term.

And writing on Twitter in the immediate aftermath of the game, Crouch said: “Nunez it’s gonna score loads and he has a 10 pack.”

Speaking post-match, Alexander-Arnold said of Nunez: “A top player. A young player who you can tell is willing to learn.

“He has bonded well with the lads, everyone has got on well with him. He has come in, got his head down, worked hard so far and knows his position is not just going to be there because we bought him this summer, he’s got to earn it.

“He came on today with a point to prove and he scored us the goal to clinch it and obviously won the pen for us as well.”
