Peter Andre won't go topless in public again after beach photo sparked breakdown

Peter Andre has admitted his bingeing and yo-yo diets left him so depressed that he can no longer go topless in public.

The singer shot to fame with his Mysterious Girl hit and music video where he became known for his ripped body.

Yet Peter, 50, has revealed his “ripped 22-year-old” self means he had a lot to live up to.

It has meant the TV personality will never take his shirt off in public again as he holds “psychological issues” from a single photo.

The dad of four is a self-confessed yo-yo dieter and at one point in his thirties, he “didn’t care about training”.

Pete gained 3st from eating “pizza, Chinese, anything I could get my hands on, all day, every day”.

On a holiday to the Bahamas, he went swimming in the sea as he was alone on the beach.

Yet the waves started to get choppy, leaving Pete gasping when he returned to the shore.

He says there was a paparazzi photographer hiding in the trees and snapped a pic of him.

“The photo got sent all around the world and it was the first time people had seen me like that since the early days. I remember the headlines – ‘Andre piles on the pack’," Pete told OK!.

“Now, I’ve got this psychological link to something and it’s stopping me just freely walking around the beach – I just won’t do it. It’s ridiculous.”

At the height of his singing career in the 90s, Peter has said he developed an unhealthy obsession with health and fitness after becoming a pin-up.

Last year he appeared on Loose Women where Peter described it as a “weird” period, saying that he “felt great” but would regularly fall ill as a result of his lifestyle.

He said: “I was watching everything I ate. I was doing everything you’re told you’re supposed to do by cutting out fats and being really strict.

“I was having raw eggs in the morning, protein shakes and training really hard, but I felt great.

“I was getting sick a lot. I remember getting colds all the time and that’s probably because there wasn’t a lot of body fat.”

He said he put on three stone during his thirties, prompting a number of unhealthy habits as he turned to fad diets to slim down again.
