Peter Andre says he's son Junior's manager as teen prepares to crack music industry

Peter Andre reveals he is ‘managing’ son Junior, 16, as the teen embarks on a music career.

The Mysterious Girl hitmaker discussed his eldest child, who he shares with ex-wife Katie Price, and spoke highly of the budding musician, as he shared his pride over Junior following in his musical footsteps.

The 49-year-old appeared on Wednesday’s edition of Lorraine, and told stand-in host Christine Lampard that he was “proud but also scared” for his son.

“I took him to the studio and he got in the booth and everyone was like ‘oh!’ And I said ‘look, let's focus on him for right now’,” Peter explained.

The star, who is also dad to Princess, 14, and Amelia, 8, and Theo, 5, said he is trying to give Junior his “freedom”, but wants to make sure he’s on the right path.

Peter is sharing his extensive knowledge of the music industry with Junior, and will be working as his manager to show him he has his full support.

“I am managing him in the sense I am there with him all the way. We want to give him some artistic freedom,” he revealed.

Junior has been teasing the prospect of new music with snaps from the recording studio, and is starting his career at the same age dad Peter also began singing.

“It makes me proud by also scared, at 16 that is what I wanted, my parents were scared and I had to prove to them that I would be okay,” Peter shared.

He said he’s seen more of the music industry over the last three decades to ensure he knows “both sides”, and said he’s aware of what could go wrong.

“I have seen the good and the bad in the industry. I know the pitfalls,” he told Christine.

As well as juggling his son’s music career, he’s also gearing to make his debut on the West End, playing Vince Fontaine in the huge musical Grease.

The former reality star said the hit stage production was his “favourite musical”, and was delighted to be starring alongside fellow Aussie Jason Donovan, playing Teen Angel, in the show.

“There are so many hidden gems it is such a great show. It is so fun and great. Jason Donovan will be in it too! Two Aussies in the West End, let's go! I have done small stints on the West End but this is a full run,” he said.

However, Junior and Princess aren’t so keen to see their dad in the West End musical, and dismissed the stage show as “old”.

“My kids Junior and Princess said it was an old film! They didn't want to see it,” he laughed.
