Peter Andre thanks ‘good samaritan’ who returned items stolen from his car as he performed on West End stage

Peter Andre has revealed that a good samaritan has returned stolen items from his car targeted by thieves while he was performing on stage at the West End.

The dad-of-four had said he felt “sad” about the incident and revealed the extent of the damage to his car in a filmed clip taken at the scene.

Dramatic footage showed the back window of his car smashed in and only a child seat left on the backseat. But the star who is performing at the Dominion theatre later posted on instagram that a man called George had found some of his possessions scattered in the street and returned them.

He said: “My faith has been restored in human nature. George found some of my things scattered over the floor. He got in touch with the contact numbers ...I’m so grateful, I’m so grateful. It just goes to show when some people do things that are not very nice, you get some people in this world who are more than kind.”

He added: “Please believe that people like George do exist in this world, thank you, thank you.

“For all the bad in this world there is a lot of good. We have arranged to meet him next week and thank him properly.”

As the theft took place, the I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here star was performing as Vince Fontaine in Grease at the Dominion Theatre, in London on Sunday night.

Following the incident, the chef said only “material things” were stolen in the car break in.

He wrote on Instagram: “So this happened last night :((( Sorry to all those that were coming up after the show and I couldn’t really talk and had to go. @greasewestend

“I know things could be a lot worse and there are bigger problems in the world but it’s still sad. And thankfully no one was hurt. Thankfully only material things.”

The Standard has reached out to Peter Andre’s representatives for further comment.

Many fans rushed to share their sympathy with the star.

Among them, one wrote: “Sorry it happened to you Peter.”

Others added: “This is terrible. Why oh why?!! X.”

“What an awful shock. Sending hugs x.”

It comes after the Mysterious Girl singer said he regretted being “a bit arrogant” when he was younger as he looked back on his success of 30 years in showbusiness.

As he approaches turning 50, he told The Standard: “I’m really happy with it [his 50th birthday], I’m such a different person now to what I was as a kid. Everything’s different, you just grow up.

“When you’re younger you think you know everything. I’d probably change the way I listened, sometimes I wasn’t a good listener. So, people would give me advice and I wouldn’t necessarily always take it.

“I was a little bit arrogant when I was younger and I wish I wasn’t, but I think it has brought me to a stage where I feel like I’m a good person, so I feel everything that happens in life, happens for a reason.”

He added: “30 years in showbusiness is a real achievement, I don’t take it for granted and am thankful.”
