Peter Andre has praised Louise Redknapp for sharing her decision not to date after her split from Jamie Redknapp.
The Naked singer, 49, revealed last week that she stayed single while Jamie moved on with his new wife Frida because she wanted to provide 'stability' for their sons, Charley, 18 and Beau, 13.
Father-of-four Pete said he understood Louise' decision, revealing he didn't tell anyone about his relationship with Emily until he knew things were 'serious' between them.
Speaking about Louise's sons, Peter said: "So many things were changing in their dad's life with him remarrying and having another baby."
He then explained how he made choices to protect his kids Junior and Princess after his divorce from Katie Price.
"I remember being very conscious about not introducing anyone to the kids until I felt the time was right," he said.
"Emily and I were friends for two years before we started dating, so Princess and Junior knew her as a family friend.
"Even when we started dating she never stayed over when they were there. I waited until I knew how serious we were," reports New magazine.
The Mysterious Girl singer married Emily MacDonagh in July 2015 after the couple met when Pete was being treated for kidney stones by Emily's father back in 2010.
The Aussie star got the doctor and his family some tickets to one of his show's in Plymouth, before asking the urologist for permission to date his daughter.
The singer's attempts to woo Emily by turning up her halls of residence at Bristol University in a Lamborghini didn't go down well - and she later claimed it was "misjudged".
But Pete, who admitted he was worried about "stuffing this up", managed to win the medical student's affections and the couple announced their relationship to the public in 2012.
The pair announced they were expecting their first child together in the summer of 2013 - and Pete got down on one knee to propose just a few days before Emily gave birth to Amelia.
They then welcomed their son Theo in 2016.
Pete split up from Katie Price almost four years after they got married.
One minute they were singing A Whole New World, the next Pete filed for divorce, leaving fans blindsided.
At the time, both refused to reveal the reason for the break-up, although Katie later said the separation wasn't her choice.
"Pete is the love of my life and my life. We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me as I married him for life," she told The Mirror.
