Peter Andre has shared his fears about his eldest children going on London transport after a teenager was stabbed on a bus.
Kelyan Bokassa, 14, was knifed to death on the 472 bus in Woolwich, south-east London, in front of appalled passengers just before 2.30pm last Tuesday.
In the wake of the horrific accident, Andre said he was “petrified” when his son Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, first started using public transport.
"It was so tragic to hear about the 14-year-old boy, Kelyan Bokassa, who was stabbed on a London bus,” the singer wrote in his New! Magazine column.
“I can’t imagine that feeling as a parent. I remember when Junior and Princess started to go on trains – I was petrified.
"Sometimes I wouldn’t let them but then I thought, you need to let kids grow up and can’t wrap cotton wool around them.”
He added that he struggles with wanting to “protect” his kids all the time in the “unsafe” world and called knife crime a “real issue that needs to be dealt with.”
Bokassa, an aspiring drill rapper who used the stage name Grippa, was killed in an area where gang violence is rife.
Witnesses reported seeing two boys, one holding a "massive machete", fleeing the scene. The Met Police have not made any arrests and are appealing for information,
Andre shares Junior and Princess with his ex-wife, Katie Price. He is also father to Millie, 11, Theo, eight, and Arabella, nine months, with his wife, Emily MacDonagh.
Last year, Andre praised Princess’ modelling collaboration with Pretty little Thing.
The then 16-year-old made her debut with the fast fashion brand in January 2024 after reportedly signing a lucrative four-figure deal.
"She's smashing it! She has just done a big shoot and I couldn't be prouder of her,” he told The Standard.
Andre also reflected on Junior’s efforts to carve out a career in the music and acting world.
"What's great is he's only 18, so he does a bit of music, then he steps away and he's doing his acting, then he comes back and does the music and I love that,” the Mysterious Girl singer said.
He added that he could see both appearing on ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in the future.
Andre famously met their mother, glamour model Price, in the jungle in 2004.
He said: "I did say to them they should definitely think one day about going on I'm A Celebrity because I think they'd be brilliant. To go to the place where, it's like not many people can experience that."
