Peter Andre calls out 'racist' troll as Grease bosses 'proud of diversity of cast'

Peter Andre has fired back after a troll made racist and homophobic comments about the West End production of Grease, which Peter is starring in.

On Instagram, Peter, 49, who is playing Vince Fontaine in the musical, shared a statement from the producers of the show, who proclaimed they are proud of the diversity of the cast.

The statement read in full: "The producers of the new production of GREASE at the Dominion Theatre are extremely proud of the diversity of our cast.

"It has come to our attention that several racist comments have been made online. The individuals making such comments are not welcome at the Dominion Theatre and the producers stand with our cast against racism and all forms of prejudice."

Underneath a screenshot of the post, the Mysterious Girl crooner wrote: "It baffles me that we still live in a world like this. I had some ignorant person on my twitter blurting out racism and homophobia.

"I wanted to say so much back but you can’t always change a narrow minded persons ways. This kind of thing is not welcome in my or my families life.

"I stand 100 per cent by my fellow cast and crew against all forms of prejudice. And let me just say, our cast are outstanding.

"Wait till you see them. Love to all…. Except the very few. And that right there makes me truly sad."

Many praised Peter for his post, while saying what a shame it is that such attitudes still exist.

One person said: "World needs more people like you Peter," while another wrote: "This makes me so sad! Well said... can't wait to see you all."

A third fan wrote: "So sad in this day, well done you for speaking out."

The dad-of-four announced his new gig as radio announcer Vince on Good Morning Britain, earlier this year.

Whilst Peter has already toured the country in the show, this is the first time he has appeared in a "residency" in the West End.

Speaking on the ITV breakfast show, he said: "Who doesn't love the film Grease? Now we've toured this show and it's been incredible, but to be in the West End in one of the biggest theatres. I mean it's a dream come true for anybody, and it's something I've always wanted to do."

He added: "Even though I've dabbled in the West End, this is my first residency, I don't know if the word's residency, but it's my first long stint I've got there and I'm so, so excited!"

And it's clear that musical skills run in the family, as Peter's son with Katie Price, Junior, 16, has just released a sneak peak of his debut single, Slide.

The 30-second clip has given fans the first chance to hear what style of music the teen will make after it was revealed last August that he had signed a record deal with Columbia.
