Pete Taylor carried into gym to train clients with both legs in heavy casts after 'freak accident'

Boxing coach Pete Taylor is back training clients at his gym - despite his legs being in heavy casts as a result of a “freak” accident.

The father of undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor injured both his legs while chasing a thief in Barcelona earlier this month.

In his latest post on Instagram, Pete posted a video of his wife Karen Brown helping him as he struggles to get out of the back seat of a car into his wheelchair as he arrives at his gym.

Captioning the video with “Time waits for no-one. We’ve all big battles to win,” the video shows Karen using a coloured scarf to lift both his legs in heavy casts while two other males lift him from the wheelchair into the boxing ring area of the gym.

He is then seen talking to some of his boxing students giving them boxing tips and advice and watches them box in the ring.

Earlier he praised his wife Karen Brown calling her his “angel” as she is now wheeling him in a wheelchair for the next 12 weeks and helping him to walk again.

He also paid tribute to Karen for washing and cleaning his arm twice a day for 18 months after he was seriously injured in a horror shooting at his gym in Bray in 2018 where another man, Bobby Messett, was killed.

Last month Pete was photographed with his daughter Katie ahead of her recent bout against Argentinian boxer Karen Elizabeth Carabajal. Katie defeated Carbajal at the Wembley Arena in October.

Pete had previously coached Katie, but they went their separate ways in 2016.

He separated from Katie's mother Bridget and later married girlfriend Karen in a low-key ceremony in Majorca in June.
