Pete Davidson pulls out of travelling to space with Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin

Pete Davidson's eagerly anticipated trip to space on board Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin is no longer all systems go.

The Saturday Night Live star, 28, had only been confirmed as to having a seat on board the rocket on Wednesday but a change in launch dates has scuppered his plans.

The comic was ready to follow in the footsteps of Star Trek actor William Shatner and TV personality Michael Strahan in boarding the 20th flight as part of the New Shepard programme on March 23.

However, late on Thursday the launch date was switched to Tuesday, March 29 - a date no longer suitable for Kim Kardashian's new beau.

Blue Origin made the date change announcement, saying: "Blue Origin's 20th flight of New Shepard has shifted to Tuesday, March 29.

"Pete Davidson is no longer able to join the NS-20 crew on this mission. We will announce the sixth crew member in the coming days."

The announcement came as a surprise to many due to how close the original launch date was.

While Pete's reasons of not being on-board weren't announced, the comedian has been heavily involved in a number of projects of late and it's likely it simply didn't fit in to his hectic schedule.

Other passengers still set to be on the mission include Party America CEO Marty Allen, husband and wife duo Sharon and Marc Hagle, entrepreneur Jim Kitchen and Commercial Space Technologies Prez Dr. George Nield.

It could have been the perfect way for Pete to get as far away from the latest Kanye West drama as possible.

Pete - or "Skete" as Kanye, 44, has labelled him - has been a constant target for the rapper in recent months after he began dating Kim, 41.

Kanye and Kim share four kids together, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Earlier this week Pete Davidson allegedly sent the rapper a series of texts to try to put an end to the saga.

However, when the texts - including an image of Pete - were leaked, eagle-eyed fans spotted what looked to be a tattoo of Kim's name on his chest.

Kim later revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her boyfriend had got her name branded on his chest with a hot iron.

She also confided that her new man, who she has been seeing for five months, already has more than three tattoos inspired by her, including one that reads "My girl is a lawyer".
